SHELBURNE: Clippers take spotlight in eventful offseason - Press-Telegram
I must say, I like this Ramona Shelburne so far. I mean, I like Joe Stevens a lot, but Ramona's done a great job during this crazy month. Of course, even if she works this beat for 20 years, there will probably never be another month like this one. Next year she'll know not to schedule a vacation during the first week of free agency. (I'm one to talk, right?)

Summer League Report
Meh, I don't have any sweet scouting info from Summer League this year. Noone seemed special. Jared Jordan played and looked talented but over his head. Will Conroy looked like Will Conroy. DJ Strawberry is talented but without a clear position. Love didn't play because he is secretly already an injury disaster. A bunch of people committed a bunch of turnovers.
I ate chicken fingers and Dale Davis sat down near us. What is Dale Davis doing at summer league? Who knows? My beer tasted like it was the next beer in the line after the beer I had last year at summer league.
BUT I did get to see some old dude get away with making fun of Nate Robinson to his face as they retired his jersey in a very quick ceremony at halftime of the first game of the day.
Go to summer league, at least for a day.

Azubuike signing with the Clipps may be impacted by the Marcus Williams trade
For those who don't know I'm a Kings fan, with no stakes on this either way, but I've been reading the Marcus Williams trade thread on Golden State of Mind, and several commenters seem to believe that the trade of Marcus Williams from the Nets for a 2011 1st round lottery protected draft pick, will give some thought on Chris Mulllin and the Warriors franchise a reason to match Azubuike's offer sheet from the Clipps.

Apparently, the Clippers are just giving those no. 23s away. Eric Gordon posed with one just a few weeks ago. Guess he had to give it up for the veteran.

Yes, Camby is more redundant on a team that already has a legit center in Chris Kamen, Teams would be smart to try to run on a Clips team that sports a front line of Kamen/Camby/Thornton with the defensively challenged Baron Davis at the point and perhaps rookie Eric Gordon on the wing. But here's a trade proposal I think would be great for both clubs: Camby and Cuttino Mobley to the Miami Heat for Shawn Marion. The Matrix would be a perfect fit between Kamen and Thorton, provide Davis and Gordon (and Thorton) with a dyamite running mate, and be the jack of defenders he was in Phoenix. Granted, Marion's weird unhappiness with the perfect situation he was given in Phoenix, and at an inflated salary, is troubling in terms of him being a veteran leader in LA, and a contract agreement (or a sign and trade after an extension by Miami) would have to be worked out. But with Davis/Marion/Kamen as your nucleus and Eric Gordon and perhaps Deandre Jordan in your future, the Clips could make some noise in the tough Western Conference.

Here's proof that former Clipper Spirit members Taylor and Laura are friends of Clips Nation. From left to right, Art Thompson III of the OC Register, Taylor, Citizen Zhiv, Citizen John R, Citizen Clip Show, Laura and ClipperSteve (rocking the Play Corey T-shirt that nicely shows off his pot belly).

No finals in the Olympic Qualifying tournament?
If I'm reading this correctly, if you win your semi-final you are done. You only play if you lose your semi-final since in that game only the winner advances to the Olympics.
No winner?

MDSr on PMS 7/16
Dunleavy holds court on the radio again yesterday.
Nothing mind blowing here.
A highlight is the expression of the understanding that the Clippers could have Bird rights for Livingston next year if everyone is smart about it.
He ends saying the Clippers aren't done making moves, which may not really anything since they still have to sign a few more players.
